5 Tips to Bet and Win at Horseraces

January 6th, 2011 by Admin

Horse racing is arguably the most risky, yet most thrilling form of gamble. Regardless of whether you win or lose, betting doubles the fun of simply watching a horse race. But admit it, there’s hardly any sense in betting if your mind wasn’t set on winning. So, what does it take to guarantee a winning bet? To help you decide where to put your money on, here are 5 tips to bet and win at horse races.

First of all, know your enemy: the odds. To increase your chances of winning a bet at horse races, or any other sports, sports betting champ is the best online guide.  Before you start be sure that you are full aware of all players in the game. Double check the horses’ track records, specifically their placing—first, second, or third—at the last four starts in the current campaign. Secondly, assess the jockeys’ riding skills, intellectual and physical skills, good judgment, and synchronization with their horses. Knowing some background information about how they train is also a big plus to your chances. The third tip to help you bet and win at horseraces involves exploring the stables a bit further. Research the horses well; find anything from running styles and maximum distances to breeding. More importantly, make sure that you never overlook the details.

Tip number four is all about you. Horse racing, presumably, has the most number of betting options out of all gambling sports. You have the win bet, place bet, show bet, across the board and all sorts of other bets to choose from. Not only that you must have good knowledge of these options to bet and win at horse race but you must know when to go for the pace-setter or when to settle with a safe bet. Lastly, you need to have as much losing as winning experiences. Only then will you learn from your mistakes and better your chances of winning in the future.

Horses Currently in Training at MD Spur Barrel Horses in 2010

March 6th, 2010 by Admin

Why are people choosing MD SPUR BARREL HORSES ?

Who’s Training with MD Spur Barrel Horses ?

Why ?

MD Spur Barrel Horses will proudly share with you the current and past roaster of quality horses in training at all times.

We at MD Spur Barrel Horses look at each horse individually.

Pediagree is a factor; however, we have learned through experience that you cannot ride horses’ papers. Although breeding can often give insight into what might be possible and factually gives reference to the ancestors’ history, breeding is no guarantee. It has also been proven that a horse does not know their structural, conformational, or physical limitations.

Many times we find it’s what is on the inside that makes a barrel horse.

Heart and try are highly important factor’s in the success of a barrel horse.

One of the key factors in making and maintaining a successful barrel horse is the right foundational training. MD Spur Barrel Horses has the proven ability to give your horse the best foundation for success.

JD Whatta Rebel aka “Rebel” 4 yr old Blue Roan Stallion

Own son of Oh Whatta Boy by a Sunfrost/Rebel Cause Mare

Owned by Faith Garver Pinkerton / 5 Star Quarter Horses of PaulsValley, OK

Rebel is a 1/2 brother to DHR Perks Leo Lynx “Deisel” we usually don’t take stallions here at MD Spur Barrel Horses but We REALLY like the Oh Whatta Boy babies and Rebel is an exceptional stallion. He is no different than having another gelding around.

Rebel is a kind, gentle, and willing colt. He is showing many of the same qualities as his half brother. These horses have GREAT minds and a willingness to please that makes training them a pleasure. He will be started on barrels by Debbie Caywood and prepared for a bright future!

He’Z GENTLE!

Just starting barrel training!

\\\\\\\\\\//////////\\\\\\\\//////////\\\\\\\\\\\///////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\////////////\\\\\\\\/////////

Frosty Biankas 5 yr old AQHA Mare:

Zema began training with MD Spur Barrel Horses in 2009. She is owned by Monica McClung, daughter of Robert McClung and Debi Jacobs of May, Ok.

This mare was started intially by Monica. She went home late summer in 2009 and returned for a tune up with Debbie Caywood at MD Spur Barrel Horses only 30 days prior to the 2009 BFA World Championships in Oklahoma City. Monica was unable to pilot Zema at OKC due to other obligations so a rider change was made and Debbie Caywood took the drivers seat for the futurity runs.

The 1st go of the futurity was just Zema’s 3rd time in competion so we were pleased with her placing nicely in the 2D during the first go when she eased a nice 16.5 run.

Zema shaved more than a tenth off her 2nd Go time to run a 16.4. Considering the lack of hauling and competition experiance Zema’s performance was pleasing to both rider/trainer Debbie Caywood and owners as well.

Zema will remain with us for a little longer so that we can help her gain the hauling and competion experiance she needs to be a strong competitor in 2010.

UPDATE: Jan. 4, 2010:

Jan. 1 & 2, 2010 - Stephenville, TX -

Zema runs a nice 3D time crusing a 16.1 after nearly 2 weeks off, 3 rides, and no home work on her Friday run at the Lonestar arena New Years Day race.

Zema runs another 3D time struggleing a little in the ground and added speed to be a 16.4 at the Lonestar arena Tribute to Booger Barter Race.

DHR Perks Leo Lynx aka “Diesel” - 2005 AQHA Gelding owned by Tina Lawson of Jones, Ok.

UPDATE SPRING 2009: Diesel is now at home with owner Tina Lawson. This team has been putting together some excellent runs! Diesel is OUTSTANDING!!! He glides thorugh his runs effortlessly and CLOCKS WITH EASE!! He has NO idea what he is yet capeable of!!!

Numerous times he and Tina have clocked 1 & 2D times. Most recently he LOPED to the 1st in the Short round at the BBR Finals to be a 16.116!!!! Only a few weeks prior to that Debbie Caywood climed back in the saddle at Choctaw, Ok to WIN the barrel race EASILY!

This colt could TRULEY be a SUPERSTAR!!!!

This is an OUTSTANDING young horse! Diesel recieved an excellent foundation from the breeder Delvin Buhr of Nebraska. He has been in training with MD Spur Barrel Horses, LLC. off and on over the last few months. We have strived to bring him along slow and correct. On 12-6-08 he made his 1st trip to town. He easily drew a 3D check the FIRST time out! Not only was this the first entry on him, but also the only time away from home while in training. He showed signs that he was ready for the task and proved him self worthy! Again on 12-14-08 he eased himself into another 3D check.

This horse is excellent minded, willing and able! HE WILL MAKE AN OUTSTANDING 2009 futurity enterant.

Ninety Seven Money Finished Barrel Horse PROJECT SOLD

March 6th, 2010 by Admin

Stands between 14.2 & 14.3 compact and short backed. Dark brown

Seven has been with me for nearly 2 years. I ride him when time allows and he stands in the pasture the rest of the time. He came here blown up on barrels in fact we called him the “Leaper” in the beginning. He now will willingly do circle barrels and work the barrel pattern correct. I have haulded him a few times to test him and he will 1/2 to 3/4 speed 3 and 4D times easily. I HAVE NOT PUSHED HIM OR ASKED FOR HIS ABUNDANDT SPEED.

Seven is in my opinion still a project and will require a kind and gentle rider who has good horsemanship skills. He is not a bronc or a run away, but he was abused and needs special understanding. I will sale him only to a home where he will continue to have an oppertunity to improve.

He is VERY athletic and run more than most so it would be very easy to expect too much to quick. He is nice to ride and is a pretty easy mover. He will get nervous with an uptight nervous rider.

In the right hands this horse could easily become a winner and a blessing for someone.

Dashonitas Cherokee “aka” Cherokee Finished Barrel Horse

Well Debbie…..You’ve done it again!!!!!  On my first run on Sonny in a big outdoor pen (Canandian TX) he went out and was a dream to ride….easy easy easy, looked for his barrels and just turned them nice and tight looking for the next one.  But that’s why I sent him to you….I knew you would do a great job and teach him what to do.   He placed right a the top of the 4D, I just let him set his own pace.  We went to Leedey a few days later and he switched from a big outdoor pen to a small indoor pen like a champ and ran at the  bottom of the 3D just cruising at his own pace again, GREAT JOB!!!.  Oh….and I can’t forget to give you a update on Zoomer…he won the 2D at Leedey and did a great job as always (after sitting idle for 2 mths).  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi….
I took Sonny to Canadian today and he was absolutely a dream to ride!!!!  You did a great job but I knew you would.  He ran at the top of the 4D and made really pretty barrels.  He was so easy to ride…just like Zoomer.  I only had one bit with me in the truck and it was a little short shank port bit that I just ride Zoomer  in and I forgot to grab the Sherry Cervi that I run in so I think it was too much for running ( I know it was for Zoomer).  I am going to take them both to Leedey Wed., so if you have a chance let me know what works best on Sonny.  Great news on Seven…I knew you could get him working too!  Talk to you soon.

Hi Debbie,
Wanted to give you an update on Zoomer…..he had really good run at Seiling.  He ran a 17.9….winning time was a 17.4.  I think it just shows when they get a solid foundation at the beginning of their barrel training they will hold together.  I am really really pleased with him.   So again…thanks for the great start on Zoomer.  I’ll keep you posted.

8-7-08

Hi Debbie,
I wanted to let you know how good Zoomer did over the weekend.  We went to a KPRA rodeo in Syracuse, Ks.  On Friday night he ran an 18.36, the winning time was a 17.55 and a 17.95 was last hole.  I was thrilled, that was only his 11th run!  He just goes out and hunts those barrels and his turns are so nice!   I decided to take him to some rodeos this summer and get him used to all the action….I was really not expecting that nice of a run.  You really did a nice job on him!!  It is so fun to go out and know that he is going to go out there and look for the barrels and want to turn them.  I’ll keep you posted on him…..thanks again,
Mary

6-9-08

Hi Debbie,
I just wanted to tell you again what a nice job you did on Zoomer.  He just went out and did it. I thought he made really nice barrels and seemed liked he just wanted to go out and turn them.  So thanks again, you really have a gift.  I told Alycia what a nice job Zoomer did and knew she was going to be pleased with Eddy when she finally gets on him.  Talk to you later,

Brenda McMahan - Dreamin JD “JD”

Gwen Cumbie - Que Paza Sugar aka “Smoke”

Debbie

Well Smoke and I keep doing better and better.  Just have to really keep that inside leg in him during the turns.  I hope to get to a jackpot this coming week end.  We are not as fortunate as you are in having somewhere to go all the time.  There’s one Saturday and Sunday at Lubbock which is about 90 miles away.  I hope to make at least one day.  Two days would be great though.

Take care

Gwen

Hi Debbie,

I have been meaning to email or call you and tell you THANKS so much for hooking me up with Rickki & JD!!  I really, really like JD and have been getting along well with him.  You have a great eye!
Once again, thanks for helping me out!  I was getting really down with “Jack” getting hurt, he is just so easy to run, I knew it would be hard to find one that is so automatic.  But I think JD is just about as easy to run and he is faster, so I am really having fun!  It is a comfort knowing you can help me out if I need it.
Thanks,
Brenda

This nice 10 year old gelding has not had his wheels hauled off! He has CONSISTANTLY run at the top of the 1 & 2D in tough Oklahoma competition. Tux is extremley consistant and RARELY hits barrels!! He has and continues to draw numerous checks and prizes at shows as follows:

Central 4D

D & G Productions

Heartland Tours

Shoout Out Productions

BBR Events

World Barrel Racing Events

Amature Rodeos

Just to mention a few!

Tux is primarily ridden by owner Babby Simunek, but has also been successfully piloted by trainer Debbie Caywood and good friend Karla Oller.

In 2003 I offered this little black horse for sale at an EXTREMELY low price. My partner Dean Spencer passed away and his family wanted to sell ASAP. I was not sure why he didn’t sell sooner but I finally talked Babby into giving him a shot. At the time Babby’s main mount was a big buckskin ranch horse that I trained a few years earlier. Charley proved everyone wrong when he stepped up and made a great barrel horse. Because of Tux’s small size it was a leap of faith for Mrs. Simunek. It proved to be the best investment and act of faith she could have made.

This team has had awsome success in the barrel racing scene over the past few years! They are consistant in bringing home nice 1 and 2D checks. As well as a saddle, buckle and numerous other nice prizes not to memtion the enjoyment and satisfaction to a rider who had been out of barrel racing for more than 20 years!

Thank you Babby for your trust in me as both a friend and trainer. I can’t wait to get started on your Bully baby and Wild Willy (a full brother to Tivoli Moon).
